Angus’s Story

“I'm quite shy and conscious, so going to the gym was intimidating. I love Primal's small classes, dedicated trainers, and inclusive atmosphere!"

Life before and at Primal

I didn’t consider myself to be a “gym” person. I had a shoulder and lower back injury, so lack of motivation, slow progress and finding the time to train were always a challenge. Fast forward to today, I feel that I’ve improved my… fitness, strength, mobility and mental health! My aches and pains have reduced and I’ve also lost weight!

One goal at a time

As a shy person, PT sessions were great for technique, custom training plan and direct feedback. As my confidence and stamina grew, I slowly tried Primal’s group classes.

My shoulder and lower back issues also always slowed my progress. Through Primal’s partner community, I did Physio and deep tissue massage. The combination of being active and seeking treatment has made a world of difference. I’m stronger and fitter. I’ve lost 10kg over a year!

In the first year, one of my ‘physical’ goals was to be able to complete a full pull-up. This required improvements in strength and trimming excess weight. I’ve achieved both!

Words of advice for someone with similar challenges and goals

Just do it. What might seem intimidating really need not be, start where you are comfortable, set a goal and enjoy your journey!
